Legoland! Now that my job at the capitol has ended, I have decided to go on vacation! I originally planned to go to Maui this coming weekend with Reid and Tiff, but I found out that my sister is going to Carlsbad, California from June 3 to June 8 for a conference. Her firm pays for her entire trip, which will be at a very expensive hotel spa resort. My mom thought it would be a good experience for me since I will probably never be able to afford that kind of trip and gave me her mileage to purchase a ticket. For some odd reason, it let me get a first class ticket for only 70,000 miles. So I decided this was too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially since I've been to Maui many times already. An entirely free trip flying first class and staying in a ridiculously nice hotel--how awesome is that? Luckily Reid and Tiff are ok with it, even though it is a bit odd that she's staying at his place when I'm not going to be there. Then again, the main reason for the trip was for us to hang out with a co-worker in Kihei while Reid took off to see his Maui friends, so hopefully that works out well.
So, what's in Carlsbad, California? Legoland! And a large outlet mall! Plus, it's just north of San Diego so we're going to go down there for the last day of the trip since Val's conferences only take up three days of the trip. Of course that means visits to San Diego Zoo and Sea World. Hopefully this turns out to be a great trip!

"Kiss Kiss Fall In Love!"The opening lines to the extremely happy opening song for Ouran High School Host Club. I'm at work 13-15 hours a day, yet I spend less than half of it doing any actual work. So I've been watching anime and I have watched all of Lovely Complex and nearly all of Ouran High School Host Club.
Lovely Complex is interesting. It's about a short boy and tall girl who both have height complexes and their relationship. Cute story and backed on both sides by Johnny's songs (4 of em!). And if you're hoping for a miraculous growth spurt at the end for the guy, I'll tell you now...NO. He's still SHORT at the end...dammit!
Ouran High School Host Club has to be one of the gayest shows I've seen thus far, but it's pretty funny. If you're a guy, it's probably going to be funny; if you're a girl, you get the added bonus of it being very pretty. I personally like Hikaru (one of the twins).
All in all, not a bad way to spend a day stuck in a cubicle. They are both 26 episodes long, so even if you aren't crazy about it, it'll be relatively short.

PSP v.s. DSI've decided I'd rather have a Sony PSP over the Nintendo DS. The PSP seems to be way better, mainly because of the ultra high video quality and the ability to watch movies and listen to music on it. And apparently, Skype also works on it! Which will be important to me when Reid goes to LA. The dual screen and cute/interesting games on the DS are nice and all, but when it comes down to it, I'd rather have the awesome multi-fuctional PSP.
I want it pretty bad, but I'm super strapped for cash at the moment, what with my law school tuition payments... so I asked some people if they could help me get it for a (5 month! :X) early birthday present. My awesome boyfriend and best friend said they would! Lucky!

Oh, sweetheart, you don't need law school. Law school is for people who are boring and ugly and serious. And you, button, are none of those things."Ali's going to Law School! I got my acceptance letter a couple of days ago so I finally have some set plans. Still not sure what to do about my living situation though. Rent is such a wasted cost that I may end up commuting by bus again!
Reid is thinking about living with his grandpa in Hawaii Kai to save on rent. He's going to bring over his car as well. Finally we have a car! Yay!

JapanTiff and I booked our flights to Japan the other week! We both used 40,000 miles on United to get what are basically free flights to Japan. We're going from December 21st to January 7th, around 2 weeks and 2 days and we have a pretty good beginning itinerary set up. My sister decided she wanted to go and got some mileage off of my parents to buy a ticket. So we're planning to pay her $30 each a night to stay with her at a hotel. The rest of the time we are planning to hole up in various hostels.
Cost Analysis: $400 for housing; $300 for transportation; $300 for food; $250 for entrance fees; and $250 spending money, for a total of $1500! All in all, it looks like I can get away with a pretty cheap trip to Japan. Lucky!

"Laid Back" People Piss Me OffI am mostly calm now, but I was damn irritated last night. Last month, our refrigerator broke and I told my roommate to call the landlord because I couldn't (I'm technically not a tenant on the contract). But instead, he tried to fix it himself and it worked for a while, then my boyfriend calls me up at 12AM to tell me the fridge broke again. I drove all the way back to town to pick up food and drop off a cooler and told them to call the landlord to report it. And for the longest time, my roommate insisted that it's too much trouble to go through the landlord, and that the contract says the refrigerator is the tenant's responsibility. Now this sounded ridiculous to me so I took the contract home for my sister (lawyer) to review. And sure enough, it is clearly the landlord's responsibility to have the refrigerator fixed/replaced within a reasonable amount of time. So I conveyed that to my roommate but he kept reiterating all kinds of crap like the refrigerator is not really broken (if my food isn't cold, IT'S BROKEN) and the landlord will take too long (if they don't fix it within a couple of days, we have the right to withhold rent) and no one will be home (they're property management, they have the GAWDDAMN KEY). So he finally said he'd call the landlord and that he'd "take care of it" but I don't really trust him to "take care of it" because he's said that before. I mean c'mon, how hard is it to make a fucking PHONE CALL. Man, I might be turning into a bitch but at least I get shit done.

Here it goes againWell, my life took an unexpected turn in the last week. I was applying to paralegal jobs when my old boss from the capitol called, saying that he heard about NOVA and wanted me to come back and work for WAM. While I was adamantly opposed to this at the end of the last session, I found that 6 months was enough time for me to forget how awful it was. (It's hard to say no to $20/hour and full benefits.)
Today was my first day as a budget analyst. For now, since session has not yet begun, my hours are 9:30-4, with very little to actually take up that time. During March and April however, I will be expected to work somewhere in the range of 14-16 hours per day, plus weekends. Then in May it's back to watching the cooking network and three hour lunches >_O Nuts huh?
The boyfriend's friend broke up with his girlfriend, with whom he had been living with. So he and two of his friends just signed the lease for an apartment near the University. Only the now single guy is actually going to be living there this month but they're all paying rent to help him out. I will be moving in with them in January and staying until May, the end of session. Rent is $300 each, so it's pretty cheap. We sadly did not get our first choice, which was AWESOME and had a pool dammit. But I guess it's ok.../sob.
